Climbing For Candy

I don't know what has happened to my little "constant smiles", sweet creature of a little daughter from China ... but suddenly, the terrible twos seem to be hitting early. The new-ness of our family seems to have worn off. If she was ever a little timid to show her real self around us, that is no longer bothering her. :) She is suddenly a woman who knows what she wants and will settle for nothing less.

Take York Peppermint Patties, for example. She loves them and knows that I keep a candy dish full of them on the counter. Well, whenever (regardless of time of day or how often she makes the request) she decides that she wants one, she now will go to almost any length to try and wear me down to get one. (My friends with girls warned me about this difference in girls' personalities versus boys.)

Here she is this afternoon trying to climb the cabinet, up onto the countertop to get into the candy jar all on her own. I finally gave her one - laughing because of her sheer persistence in attempting to get one. One, however, was not in her radar ... she continued her crying because she wants a hand full of them!

My little sequence of pictures ... first, she is unhappy with me and pointing to the candy jar ... when that doesn't work, she decides to climb up herself. It didn't work, btw ... but I bet she'll be scheming for some better way to reach that candy dish! It's not over! :)
