Our Little China Dolls!

Today, we had all the babies dressed up in their Chinese silk outfits for pictures. Unfortunately, the last baby in the line up started a chain "crying reaction" for the babies near Zoe ... I think Zoe is the fifth baby from the left. It took a minute, but the crying was contagious and went right down the row ... and even when I blew her kisses, which usually cracks her up, she kept crying.

The smaller group picture (with the moms) is the babies from our orphanage ... for that picture, she threw up! :) We were batting 1000 at that point. We've run out of Zoe's usual formula and we had to buy another brand ... don't think that her stomach is quite adjusting to it because she has started spitting up and throwing up a little bit and she wasn't doing that before. BTW, the woman in the middle of the picture is our guide, Amy. Zoe really likes her ... she knows how to make the babies laugh and Zoe likes hearing her talk in Chinese, too.

Just before we took the picture, Bain fed her a bottle ... That will, typically, turn her into a happy baby for awhile ... but with all the picture commotion, she was still a little fussy.

After the pictures, Zoe and I went shopping together while Bain took a little nap and watched soccer on TV. We went next door to the Dong Fang hotel and were surprised to find a little mini-mall of shops (up the escalators) all selling the favorite adopting family souveniers ... lots of squeeky shoes, little lady bug outfits, tea sets, Chinese dolls and lots more ... and the cheapest prices we had found to date. After looking and looking for a good place to shop, we found it at the hotel right next door ... just down a little from McDonalds. I don't think I'll have time to go back there tomorrow ... but probably will be spending some more yuans (Chinese dollars) over there on Thursday.

We're eating light today because we plan to eat the buffet tonight at the hotel. It has every kind of food you can imagine ... steaks, chicken and fish that they cook on a grill or stir fry in front of you ... sushi, shrimp, breads, veggies & fruits ... and American desserts including fudge pie and creme brulee. We checked it out last night but didn't feel hungry enough to eat there ... so tonight, we'll be ready to pig out. :) It is 280 yuan to eat there per person ... a huge amount in Chinese money for food. This is equal to about $30-$35 per person in US money. Just for comparison ... an entire meal for both of us at Pizza Hut or KFC is about 80 yuan ... or about $10.
