In-Country Travel Plan is Finalized

We received our in-country travel itinery along with passport visas and plane tickets today. We will be flying from Nashville at 8:30 AM on Thursday, Oct 26th and arriving in Beijing on Friday, Oct 27th at 2:25 PM. We have a couple of days in Beijing to get used to the 12+ hour time difference. We are staying at the Radisson Hotel in the Chaoyang District. On Saturday and Sunday (the 28th and 29th), we'll be site-seeing in Beijing ... Great Wall of China, Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, etc. Our phone number there is 86-10-6466-3388.

Monday morning, the 30th, we have an early morning flight to Guangzhou (near Hong Kong) where we will stay for the rest of our trip. We have an "apartment" type room with bedrooms and a kitchen and washer/dryer. Our hotel is the China Hotel (a Marriott hotel) and it is located on Liuhua Road in Guangzhou. The phone number is 86-20-8666-6888.

Monday afternoon, we'll meet Zoe, start the adoption process and spend time getting to know our new little daughter. On Tuesday, our adoption will be finalized (Halloween!). Wednesday is my birthday and we'll probably do a little paperwork that day but mostly, we'll have that day and the next two days to just to relax, sight-see and spend time with Zoe.

On the 4th and 5th, we'll finish our paperwork for the American Consulate and take Zoe for her medical exam. Then, again, we'll have two days to relax before the American Consulate appointment on Wed, Nov 8th. The following day, the 9th at 4 PM, we'll pick up Zoe's American Visa and have a swearing-in ceremony. Once that ceremony is complete, we will have completed the adoption process and will be clear to bring Zoe home.

We leave on Friday, Nov. 10th from Guangzhou and travel to Hong Kong (by taxi maybe?) to catch our flight home. We leave Hong Kong at 11:35 AM and arrive in Nashville at 3:15 PM that afternoon ... sounds great ... like a short flight ... but you have to add 12 hours for the time difference ... making it a 16 hour journey!

Guess it's time to write up a packing list so that I don't forget anything ... Only about two weeks left so I guess I can also pull out the suitcases and start thinking about packing now without feeling like I'm starting way too early!
