I Don't Need Help!

These are the best words a parent can hear (see title of this post) ... My three year old tells me all the time that he can now do things on his own. Zoe is now eating "finger foods" all on her own ... she's come so far in just a few months!

When we first met Zoe (just 65 days ago), one of our concerns was that she couldn't use her thumb to pick things up. She'd had very little reason to develop this skill (normally a 7-8 month skill and she was 12 months) ... her only food up to that point was fed to her through a bottle ... so she still used just her four fingers against the palm of her hand to pick up small items ... and she wasn't very successful at it ... but it was funny to watch her try when you knew that all she had to do was use her thumb and it would be so easy!

Just in the past couple of days, she's learned to pick up the little baby food "veggie/fruit puffs" really well (with her THUMB and first finger!!) and she LOVES to eat them ... one after the other. Even though she can now feed herself, you can tell from the picture that Jackson still likes to be the helpful big brother and put bites in her mouth! :)

These pictures were from our dinner at Chili's last night ... Thanks to a Christmas gift certificate. Dinner out with four young kids is much more fun when paid for by a gift card! :) The kids had fun coloring and playing tic-tac-toe until our food came.
